Prof Sarah Howie 

Director: Africa Centre for Scholarship

Prof Sarah Howie is the Director at the Africa Centre for Scholarship, formerly of the University of Pretoria where she was the Director of the Centre for Evaluation and Assessment and Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science and technology Education in the Faculty of Education. She is the National Research Coordinator for the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2016 and amongst others is the Deputy-Chair of the Board of the South African Qualifications Authority and a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa.

Ms Corina du Toit

Head: African Doctoral Capacity Programme

Corina is the leader of the African Doctoral Academy and is responsible for carefully considering and sculpting the course content which is presented at the Summer and Winter schools each year. Her responsibilities extend beyond just the Summer and Winter schools to include the ADA's roadshows, providing a presence across Africa, as well as day to day administrative tasks. Corina also dedicates a great deal of energy to sourcing and selecting partners and empowerment programmes to integrate into the ADA, examples of which are the African Woman in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) programme and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) programme.

Corina holds a Master's degree in Viticulture and will shortly embark on her doctoral research in the same field.

In her spare time, Corina enjoys cooking and tasting exotic wines.

Ms Amalsha Galhenage

Programme Assistant

Amalsha is an international student from Sri Lanka currently busy with her MSc in Biochemistry with a focus on glycolysis and diabetes. She is the friendly assistant at the ADA who deals with all enquiries and logistics around the Summer and Winter Schools.
