Do you think you were successful in providing newcomers / mentees with support and assistance in the adjustment and transition in their new university environment?

Yes I could answer their questions and give them guidance and we really bonded and they were able to come to me when they had problems.

What has been the most challenging part of being a mentor? What will you do differently? What will you advise prospective mentors?

The most challenging part for me was stepping out of my comfort zone and engaging with so many new people. I would like to have talk to more people with more comfort and enthusiasm. Prospective mentors shouldn't be afraid to take on the challenge of being a mentor and stepping out of your comfort zone what ever that may be.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "communication" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

By having to talk to so many mentees to make them feel welcome I think I have developed a basic framework of things to talk about when talking to new people to get to know them better.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "collaboration" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

I learned that as mentors we are all one big team and I one of us doesn't bring his or her part the team can't function properly so we have to always give our best so we as a team can run as smoothly as possible.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "critical thinking" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

With some unforeseen circumstances like rain ruining some of our plans we were definitely challenged to think of alternatives in a short period of time.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "creativity" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

We have to help think of events for Capri and to think of these events definitely sparked some creativity.
