Do you think you were successful in providing newcomers / mentees with support and assistance in the adjustment and transition in their new university environment?

Yes I was always there to aid them and they said they felt at home and good now. They have grown into confident first years and uni students and are now ready to go on on their own.

What has been the most challenging part of being a mentor? What will you do differently? What will you advise prospective mentors?

The most challenging part was getting the kids to take part in everything considering how shy engineering students usually are.But we tackled it as a team and they developed confidence through working together and taking part.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "communication" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

I've learned how to both be more specific with individuals and how to be more distanced and generalised with a group. It was a great learning experience.I am mor comfortable speaking in large groups also and have learned a lot.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "collaboration" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

I learned how to lead a team and work with them and also how to work with other mentors and upper leadership to achieve things together.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "critical thinking" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

I learned how to spot issues early and to understand problems at their core. I learned a lot about the world and different worldviews and how to work with all of them.

How do you think you think you refined and strengthened your "creativity" skills during your term as a mentor? Please elaborate.

Mentoring required a lot of creative problem solving and figuring out how to maximise what I had in a situation. I have gained a lit of skills.
