For Mentors Only: Your To-Do List

Step-by-step Guide for Mentors

The following list can be used by mentors as their "to-do list" with regard to the BeWell programme (once you have registered yourself and your group you must start at Step 3 on the list).

Please note:The best way to perform all your online responsibilities is to do it via your own individualised and secure private wellness website - all the forms and resources are available there. Instructions on how to access this private space is available from the "For Your Eyes Only" menu option above and the "For Your Eyes Only" button link below. The list below is duplicated on your own site and is provided here to give you quick access to all the necessary forms.

You will notice that the list also contains references to wellness enhancing activities. These wellness activities and resources are for personal enrichment and development, but can also be used to support your mentees and to generate additional topics for discussion during your wellness card sessions with your mentees - it is therefore important that you take notice of these.

You will earn mentoring points (MP's) for all the mentoring sessions that you record and wellness development points (WDP's) for all the wellness enhancing activities that you undertake and record on the system. The wellness activities are optional, but if you do not record any you will not earn any points either and miss a golden opportunity for personal growth. It is highly recommended that you at least ask your mentees to complete the Wellness Development and the Grit and Growth Mindset e-workshops, available from their personal wellness websites.

Various leaderboards are also available and you can follow what others are doing by consulting the live Twitter feed ("My Leaderboard" and "My News" menu options on your individualised site).

Step 1: Register as a mentor (you will do this only once - if you ever forget your password for your individualised site, you can get it from the "Forgotten Password" menu option above or the "Forgotten Password" button link below).

Step 2: Register/modify your group.

Step 3: Conduct your mentoring sessions with your group (welcome, wellness, individual, social media-based and other).

Step 4: Record your mentoring sessions.

Step 5: Record mentoring reflections - at three specific times, namely soon after the completion of the welcoming programme, near the end of the first semester and at the beginning of the second semester. You will be informed when this must be done.

Step 6: Encourage your mentees to record your mentoring sessions with their group by using this form. Please take note that this is a different form than the one you are using - only included here so that you know how it looks - it is not for your use!.

Step 7: Perform wellness enhancing activities: Visit the "My Multimedia" e-library and complete e-workshop assessments and activities ("My e-Workshops"). Both the multimedia resources and the e-workshops are available on your own wellness website.

Step 8: Encourage your mentees to perform wellness enhancing activities - available on their individualised wellness websites.

Step 9: Monitor your leaderboards ("My Leaderboards") and progress ("My Achievements" and dashboards), and encourage your mentees to monitor theirs too. These functions are available on the individualised wellness websites of mentors and mentees.

Step 10: Monitor the Twitter and news feeds ("My News") - available on your own wellness website.

Repeat steps 2 to 10 continously (when appropriate) - conduct and record your sessions, visit your e-library and e-workshops, and study your activity logs, journals, leaderboards, achievements, etc.. Encourage your mentees to do the same.
