Olives

One of the olive trees in the garden was cultivated by of a cutting obtained from the Gethsemane olive (in Hebrew ‘Gatshanim’ means ‘Place of the Oil Press’).
The wild olive (Olea europaea subsp. africana) can also be seen here. It is found throughout Africa and the common olive is thought possibly to have developed from the wild olive.
