Course Description:
This short course aims to provide novice academic authors from different academic institutions with an introduction to the writing skills required for producing and organising information in the form of scholarly articles. It also offers novice authors the opportunity to do some on-site writing and have their writing language edited during the course. Upon completion of the course participants will have a first completed draft or partly completed draft of their articles available. During the course participants will also be required to work together and to discuss aspects of textual construction with one another.

Facilitators:
The short course facilitation team will be headed by Dr Rose Richards, Unit Head for English Writing at the Language Centre, Stellenbosch University. She will be joined by Prof Eli Bitzer from the Centre for Higher and Adult Education, Stellenbosch University as well as Ms Ella Belcher and Ms Sanri Theron, two seasoned language editors. Both Dr Richards and Prof Bitzer have published extensively in the field of language, writing and higher education and have facilitated many writing for academic purposes workshops.
