Bo Wen Xie represents South Africa in Chinese Bridge Competition Finals
Bjorn Leif Brauteseth - better known in many a Chinese circle as Bo Wen Xie - is currently representing South Africa at the annual Chinese Bridge Competition in China.
Bo Wen is the South African regional champion, qualifying after the preliminaries held in Cape Town on the 08th of May. The selection for the Bridge competition rounds in China came after Bo Wen competed against many talented South Africans in Chinese Speech, General Knowledge Q&A and a Talent Performance.
Along with one other South African student, from Rhodes University, Bo Wen formed part of 118 candidates worldwide who were selected as regional champions from their respective countries. Bo Wen again succeeded in amazing the judges, and made it through to the round of 30 students.
Travelling to 5 cities in China, the top 30 were tasked with creating performances that tested their Chinese language proficiency. After the performances, another selection occurred and once again Bo Wen eased into the cohort, making the top 12. The final rounds will take place on 28 July, 04 August and 11 August after which the overall winners will be announced.
