Stellenbosch students win Chinese Bridge competition


The 14th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students and the 8th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency for Secondary School Students South African Preliminary Competition was successfully held in Durban on 30 May 2015.

More than 30 competitors from different Confucius Institutes and Classrooms took part. The competition with the theme "My Chinese Dream" included a writing exam, speech and talent show. In the college students group, four competitors from the Confucius Institute at Stellenbosch (CISU) attended.    

Jamie Cripwell and Liesl Kotze won the grand prize and Leanne Robinson and Daniel Stein​came third. This is the CISU’s sixth participation in the “Chinese Bridge” competition.

The Consul-General of China in Durban, Wang Jianzhou and Chinese Embassy representative Song Bo attended the event. The two winning competitors will represent South Africa and attend the final "Chinese Bridge" competition in China Changsha in July. -  Saidaer Muzhapaer
