Chinese Conversational program makes waves in its first season on radio
The first season of a Chinese conversational program on radio, hosted by the Confucius Institute at Stellenbosch University (CISU) is coming to an end.
Chinese Conversational is a weekly program broadcasted on MFM 92.6, the number one rated community radio station in Stellenbosch. On air every Tuesday at 18:46, staff of the CISU have produced 20 episodes for the slot thus far.
The radio program is hosted by Rebecca Wang and Alex Li. It suits the tastes and habits of local residents and students, featuring themes and topics relating to daily life. The content focuses on easy and useful vocabulary and sentences. Interesting and practical methods are adopted.
The program has become popular among students and community since its first broadcast at the beginning of 2017. With feedback from audiences small adjustments have been made, enhancing the listening experience.
This new way of teaching Chinese has also attracted the attention of the media. Hunan Satellite TV and Xiamen TV from China visited Stellenbosch University to do a feature of the program.
The CISU is looking forward to a second season of the program. New methods, guests and live broadcasts are considered to add more interaction.
