Stellenbosch University participates in and offers the following services to students:
- To undertake the HSK test (a test in Chinese Proficiency), please contact the academic department of Modern Foreign Languages at SU.
- To apply for the Confucius Institute Scholarship, please visit the Confucius Institute at Stellenbosch University, located in the Postgraduate and International Office.
HSK – Chinese Proficiency Test
HSK is an international standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. HSK consists of a writing test and a speaking test, which are independent of each other.

Scholarships
The Confucius Institute Scholarship Program was established by Hanban / Confucius Institute Headquarters in order to encourage students and Chinese language teachers all over the world to study Chinese or conduct research on Chinese language and culture in China.
