Dr Herman Geyer: Lecturer

Herman Geyer graduated in 2007 and has since worked in diverse planning disciplines in South Africa and the UK including environmental planning, development economics, regional statistics, and town planning. As a consultant he has been involved in various capacities including private sector reasonings and subdivisions, the formulation of district and municipal plans, feasibility studies and audits, and public participation facilitation. Dr Geyer completed his master’s degree in 2011 and his doctorate in Geography and Environmental Studies at Stellenbosch University in 2021. He has been a lecturer at CRUISE since 2011 focussing on urban and spatial demographics, regional development, and spatial economics. Recently he has also started to focus his research on informality. Dr Geyer has published more than 30 academic papers and successfully supervised 25 master’s thesis dissertations.
