The University of the Free State (UFS), in partnership with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the National Research Foundation (NRF), invites abstract submissions for the GCC5, which will be held on the UFS Bloemfontein Campus from 30 January to 2 February 2023.

The call for abstracts, with the theme ‘Research and innovation accelerating transformation to global sustainability’, is open to any discipline (single, multi-, inter-, or trans-disciplinary).

Among the topics are the following:

  • The sustainable implementation space: innovation, institutions, and imagination
  • Understanding a changing climate
  • Reducing the human footprint
  • Adapting the way we live

The deadline for submission is 15 November 2022, and abstract themes will be defined in the final session programme.

The scientific committee will assess all abstracts submitted, and those selected will be published in the conference proceedings.

This conference seeks to provide a networking and knowledge-sharing platform for global change stakeholders to exchange and debate the most recent research and innovations promoting transformation. Early-career scholars are strongly encouraged to participate.

For more information on submission and registration, please visit the GCC5 website or contact secretariat@gcc5.org.za.
