Profile

Following a BCom in Marketing & Management Science, Guy completed his PGDip in Sustainable Development. He now finds himself on his MPhil journey in Sustainable Development.

Enthused in all things sustainability, Guy’s interests range from transformative education to sacred activism, environmental ethics, traditional ecological knowledge, indigenous wisdom, systems thinking, food security and food system transitions.

His current focus is on education and looking at ways in which institutions can foster a deeper awareness and understanding of the self and the collective, as well as our role as change agents in contributing toward the betterment of society and the natural world of which we form part. His research will be inquiring into the extent to which heutagogy, or self-determined learning, is an embedded quality within the Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development at Stellenbosch University. Forming an intuitive weaving between decolonial praxis and pedagogical approaches, he seeks to investigate the transformative potential of reimagined means of education that transgress the current status-quo.
