What is JOOL/RAG really about?
These acronyms that we use so often have a much deeper meaning than most people would think. JOOL stands for “Jou Onbaatsigtigte Opoffering vir Liefdadigheid” and RAG stands for “Remember And Give”. This festival that we partake in every year is linked to the promotion of social development and responsibility amongst the student body and general public. Through this festival Maties JOOL/RAG raises funds that will be donated to Matie Gemeenskapsdiens (MGD)/ Matie Community Service(MCS).

How and when does it all happen?
The success of JOOL depends on the level of student participation and thus the events are organized so that residence pairs compete against each other. At the end of JOOL the winners are announced and rewarded. The events occur during a period where the first year students are adjusting to university life and is geared towards orientating them into the student culture here at the University of Stellenbosch. The following events amongst others occurs during JOOL:
