Change Academy 2012-13: call for submissions

Higher education institutions from the UK and overseas are invited to submit proposals for Change Academy 2012-13, the HEA's flagship institutional change programme.

Delivered in partnership with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, Change Academy is a year-long process that brings together cross-institutional teams and gives them time and space to think creatively and develop a major change initiative. This is a unique, high quality process for professional learning which provides tools and approaches that can be cascaded more widely across your institution, supporting both rapid innovation and capacity-building for longer-term change.

Change Academy has been successfully delivered since 2004, with over 100 teams having taken part to date.

For more information, visit the HEA Change Academy web page.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 2 March 2012.

ISSOTL Conference 2012 - International Collaborative Writing Groups

As part of the ISSOTL 2012 Conference hosted by the Centre for Leadership in Learning at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, colleagues are invited to apply to participate to join a year long international collaborative writing group. The deadline for applications is by 28 February 2012.

There will be nine groups, each of which will prepare and write an article during 2012-13 on a pre-selected topic about SOTL for submission for publication. Each group will have six or seven members chaired by a facilitator familiar with the chosen topic. Ideally each group will include one student member. Each group may have one group member who is unable to participate face to face at the two-day pre-ISSOTL workshop.

Applicants should complete and submit the on-line form at: http://bit.ly/ISSOTL2012WritingGroups.

Foundation Programmes Colloquium 2012

Building a Firm Foundation: Theory Informing Practice

By 2012 the current Higher Education Foundation Provision approach will be at the end of its second three year cycle. This intervention has developed within a very specific framework (as set out by the DHET), and the time has come to consolidate what the HE sector has learnt about Foundational work approached in this way. While work done in Foundation Provision rogrammes has been reported widely (there are examples of presentations at regional, national and international level), the sector needs a critical and comprehensive consideration of the theoretical base of this work. This colloquium is therefore an attempt to both investigate existing educational development theories and how they contribute to our Foundation Provision practice as well as to explore new or adapted theoretical developments to support our practice.

For more information on this event, please visit the Foundation Programmes SIG page.
