Medies setting the pace

Medies won their second fixture of the Sauer league when they comfortably beat Dagbreek by 29 points to 8.

The men from Tygerberg made the boys from Stellenbosch appear to be youngsters when they ran in 5 tries against Dagbreek’s 1.

The match started out with a blistering pace as the Rebels played the ball wide with every phase. The visitors had no answer to the speed if the Rebels and PJ le Grange scored a brace of tries within 15 minutes. PJ single handily secured the bonus point for the Rebels as he outsmarted the Dagbreek defense with his fast feet.

Chris Blom was welcomed back after he “cum-ed” nearly all of his SI-exams. His inclusion saw Lourens Wahl slot back into his familiar position of fullback. Lourens had an excellent match and was rewarded witah a great try running a supporting line off Le Roux Viljoen, a great way to finish off the play that was started back in the Rebel 22m area.

The defence showed great improvement. This could definitely be to the fact that Duncan Havenga found himself back in the nr 6 jersey. Duncan was once again as reliable as ever, even though him and Le Roux might have broken the record for most penalties given away, an area which would definitely receive attention this week.

Jurgens Terblanche was a pillar in defense in the midfield and was again rewarded with a try after he demolished the defensive lines by making use of his brute strength.

The Rebels now face a massive obstacle in the form of Wilgenhof on Friday the 26th of April.
