INNOVATIVE MOVEMENT THERAPIES BROCHURE
This broad term describes interventions that use the horse as a medium to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals for people with a range of physical, emotional, cognitive and social challenges. Physiotherapists and occupational therapists rely on the movement of the horse to provide rhythmic and repetitive physical and sensory input to the rider. Psychologists facilitate programmes that promote communication and interaction that capitalises on the healing power of the person-horse relationship.
Dancing involves a variety of actions involving the coordination of different body parts with the rhythm of the music. Dance creates a highly motivational environment that supports the practice of timing patterns and force moderation while developing body and spatial awareness. Dancing brings a rich social and self-confidence dimension to participation.
