Exercise and Preventative Medicine at maintains an active partnership with Campus Health Services focused on four themes.

SPORT INJURY THEME

Strategies for sport injury prevention and management for both University and community athletes are addressed within the Unit. Athletes from the full range of participation intensity (sedentary individuals through to high-performance athletes) are included in applied research projects.

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT THEME

The Unit provides leadership for multi-disciplinary research teams that look at health and other medical issues that impact on top-level sport performance as well as those factors that affect long-term develpment in a variety of sports.

 

ACTIVE LIFESTYLES THEME

The Unit participates in community-based programmes that link sport, exercise and recreation participation to personal health outcomes. The empowerment of community leaders to deliver activity programmes is an integral feature of many projects.

HEALTH PROMOTION THEME

The Unit is commited to exploring how physical activity programmes can be adapted and implementd to promote healthy levels of participation in historically disadvantaged communities.
