The aim of the language development courses is to develop students’ language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in an interactive, small-group environment. These courses cater for a range of participants, with groups for absolute beginners, advanced speakers and everything in between.
Students are empowered to cope with lectures and notes presented in a language that is not their mother tongue, while also acquiring language skills and strategies that will benefit them in a social and academic setting. Students from the Medicine and Health Sciences Faculty, for example, are empowered to conduct basic conversations with both patients and colleagues in the other party’s mother tongue.
