Water balloon throwing and water pistol shooting were the order of the day for Meta's first years, HKs and mentors when they spent Sunday morning getting to know each other. Fun, laughter and lots of water allowed Meta's new residents to let of steam and enjoy Stellenbosch's sunshine, whilst having a break from the demands of MAD2. The morning was enjoyed by all, who returned to res drenched but having had a happy, lighthearted morning.
Majuba’s got the moves at our young ladies’ first evening skakel.
After the hype of our cluster social on the eve of the 25th, the Meta first year girls were as amped as they were nervous for their first evening skakel. Nevertheless they were all giggles as they set out to Fedics street for their skakel prep together with the HK ladies – who looked equally gorgeous. Luckily Vyfster was loud and proud as they assured the girls that they all looked gorgeous and thus calming down the worst nerves.
On our way to Majuba the girls had a first-hand experience of Stellies looks (and sounds!) on a Friday night as more guys passed our young ladies with whistles and “sjoe’s”. Our ladies kept their cool as they followed the HK to Majuba. Prepared for a casual sokkie, our girls got much more than what they bargained for as Majuba’s HK introduces all the first years to the Dance Society. Starting with the basic cha-cha-slide they eventually got introduced to the original cha cha as well as the mambo and tango. The HK seemed to enjoy this free lesson and it wasn’t long before the Majuba HK took hands with our HK ladies and everyone danced together. The first year girls all agree that last night was a hit and definitely a great start to the exciting skakels ahead as they will get to know more first year guys.
Besides our ladies’ graceful dance moves, the first years’ singing was a great start and end to the skakel as their skakel preparation payed off. Our gorgeous Lady Nozi, of our HK, proudly states: “You know how no-one can get Majuba silent when it comes to singing? Our girls made them silent for days.”
