Lateral view hip
Xrays show a calcified lesion near the acetabular rim but away from the pelvis. The differential diagnosis was between osteochondroma, myositis ossificans and chondrosarcoma.
The lesion was mainly inferior to the acetabulum an was excised via a medial approach to the hip. The excision biopsy showed bone with a cartilage cap confirming the diagnosis of osteochondroma there were no mitotic figures to suggest malignancy.
