 First image Pain in shoulder for several years. She had been involved in a motor accident 7 years previously. X rays show the proximal part of the humerus has disappeared. The bony margins are well rounded however suggesting a benign process. Calcification of the soft tissues about the shoulder capsule are present.
The proximal humerus ofter resorbs due to avascular necrosis. Look out for a Charcot's joint from causes such as a syrinx of the spinal cord.
