Notes:
This aggressive looking lesion caused our histologists a headache when we did
the preoperative biopsy. It was confirmed to be a GCT.
Here method of bone transport was attempted. The tumor was excised en bloc.
The subchondral bone was phenolised and a segment of bone was transported towards
the remaining epiphysis using Ilizarov technique.
Histology of the operative specimen showed aggressive features including a small area of osteoid. Because of this radiotherapy was commenced. Deep sepsis developed and a month later an above knee amputation was done.
