This practice-oriented programme that is taught over one year, offers students a choice between any of the indigenous African Languages of South Africa, Afrikaans, Chinese, Dutch, English, French and German. Two of these languages are chosen for editing and as source and target languages for translation and interpreting. Students do modules in translation and interpreting methodology, editing methodology, practical translation, practical interpreting, practical editing, and lexicography and do a compulsory internship.
Note that not all languages are necessarily offered each year – the offering is determined by demand. Admission requirements are any Bachelor’s degree and a successful entry examination.
