Particulars of applications directly to the NRF (1 category of scholarship) |
| Stellenbosch University has been invited to nominate a maximum of EIGHT (8) students who are currently registered at SU and who are South African citizens. These may be in either of the following four categories: • One year taught masters courses or equivalent degrees (excluding MBA) • Six months of clinical training in medicine or dentistry • Doctoral degrees, up to three years of duration (UK institution) • One year research on a split-site basis, towards a PhD registered at Stellenbosch University. |
PhD students wishing to pursue part of their studies at United Kingdom University or another institution for one year, under the joint supervision of South-African and UK-based supervisors, can apply for the 2012 Commonwealth split-site Doctoral scholarship. There is only one category, which is the same as the fourth category in the left-hand column • One year research on a split-site basis, towards a PhD registered at Stellenbosch University. |

| The Commission will not offer awards to scholars already close to completing a doctorate in their own country, though awards may be tenable to complete doctoral studies already underway in the UK. | |
