This centre aims to provide training in research and teaching of macromolecules and materials with emphasize on the developing countries in Africa, especially in SADEC, Eastern Europe and elsewhere. It also focuses on developing affordable educational packages (including multimedia, web-based and paper-based sets) for distribution into developing countries, according to their needs. The centre also develops kits for practical laboratory instruction and demonstration in macromolecules.  Research is conducted towards expanding industrial production and encouraging job creation with special emphasize on community needs.
