General information
Contract Research: Policies and processes, preparing a contract and other information
To perform contract research at Stellenbosch University, a researcher needs to comply with approved policies and processes. In this section, the researcher will be introduced to the management of research funds, the contract approval processes and the management of intellectual property.
As part of the contract preparation process, a declaration letter needs to be signed by the researcher, the departmental chair/director and the dean. Ethical approval, where applicable, must be awarded before the contract is signed. See the standard contracts section for information on the different contract types and examples for each type. Information on project development and project management are also available for your convenience.
Miscellaneous information. While preparing a contract for contract research, it is important to be informed on the implications of insurance, indirect costs, VAT and invoicing. To assist you with this, we provide you with a summary of where to find more information on these matters (see links on the left).
