Last week, Vanessa Mpatlanyane was invited to speak on a live eNCA panel entitled “Choosing Protest over politics”, which examined youth politics, protest and the impact of social media.

Vanessa graduated in March 2018 with a MA (Cum Laude) with a thesis entitled “New Student Activism after Apartheid: the case of Open Stellenbosch”, which was supervised by Dr. Bernard Dubbeld. She currently lectures in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences EDP programme and leads the 2nd year anthropology internship section. She has also tutored in Social Theory and been a visiting student at the University of Helsinki.
