HIRE A MATIE BICYCLE

Become part of Stellenbosch University’s cycling culture! Come and hire your special Matie Bike from the Vehicle Fleet.

SU is the first South African university to set the bicycle wheels rolling for sustainability. As from 15 March 2012 staff and students can hire a Matie Bike on an annual basis. A special sticker identifies each bicycle as a Matie Bike. The frame also has a unique serial number for identification purposes. And a unique number on the rear mudguard facilitates identification in a bicycle parking area.

A deposit of R1 000 per annum is payable (currently cash or electronically) for the use of a bicycle. If the bicycle is returned in a good working order at the end of the year, R600 of the R1 000 will be refunded.

To hire a bicycle:
Bicycles are hired from the SU Vehicle Fleet in Banhoek Road. Click here for a map (no 26 on the map). Payment must first be made before a bicycle can be hired.

Payment of the R1 000 (including the refundable deposit of R600) can be made as follows:
