Mixed Nationals 2015

Maties Ultimate traveled up to Bloemfontein for the annual South Africa Mixed National Ultimate Championships in April.

The results from the two day tournament are as follows:

Won 15-3 vs ELUF Rebels
Won 15-6 vs Skyveld
Won 14-8 vs Salusa 45
Won 15-4 vs Ultitude
Lost 10-16 vs Chilli
Won 16-4 vs Polokwane Ultimate
Lost 7-15 vs Long Donkeys
Won 13-9 vs Catch-22

Overall the team placed 5th, having an initial seeding of 10th. Well done Maties!

Mother City Invitational (MCI) 2015

Maties Ultimate took part in the annual Mother City Invitational tournament, held in Cape Town on the 4th of April. The team was somewhat thin due to the looming National Champs and many players choosing to rest themselves. Never the less, the team gave it horns, yielding the following results:

Summer League Game 5: 28/02/2015. Maties 17 – 9 Salusa 45

A game postponed from the beginning of the year took place on a picturesque Saturday morning on the fields next to the Danie Craven stadium. Perfectly windless conditions resulted in an intense game between long time friends and rivals, Maties and Salusa 45. Maties used their home-ground advantage to full effect, beating Salusa 17 – 9, the first win for Maties against Salusa in the history of their 4-year rivalry.
