Tikwiza Silubonde, lecturer in M&E at CREST travelled to Nagoya, Japan, in December 2022 to participate in the 11th AC21 International Forum 2022.

The theme of the forum was International Higher Education for a Sustainable Society. The forum was attended by delegates from six countries, namely Australia, France, Germany, Japan, South Africa, and United States. The event also welcomed virtual presenters for a special student session that centred on SDGs learning and practices.

Silubonde was invited to present as part of a panel session titled, Higher iEducation in the Post-COVID Era. The presentation focused on considerations for remote delivery of academic programmes in the context of developing countries. She used the CREST M&E programme as a case-study, sharing insights about how CREST M&E adapted the programme during Covid, the approaches used and experiences of students.

According to Silubonde, “It was great to profile the work of CREST and Stellenbosch University and engage in insightful discussions about higher education and sustainability. This was an invaluable opportunity to gain new perspectives and broaden my horizons.”
