On the 14th of June 2016 CREST hosted Professor Laurie Stevahn from the American Evaluation Association during a lunchtime seminar. Professor Stevahn is a Professor of Education and the Director of the Educational Leadership Doctoral Programme at Seattle University. This seminar was part of a series of events hosted in partnership with the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA), Department of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) and ZENEX Foundation

M&E practitioners in the public sector and the private sector as well academic staff at Stellenbosch University attended the Stellenbosch seminar. In total there were 26 people in attendance. Professor Stevahn shared her insights on Interactive Evaluation. She shared the 13 strategies and the principles of Interactive Evaluation.  This was a participatory session in which attendees worked in small groups while they practiced some of the strategies that they could also adopt and or adapt for their evaluation practice.

Dr Lauren Wildschut (CREST) who is currently a board member of SAMEA opened the Stellenbosch University seminar by introducing Professor Stevahn and remarking how her visit coincides with the current and important dialogue in South Africa regarding evaluator competencies and professionalization.
