The next global gathering of science communication researchers and practitioners, organised by the PCST Network and hosted by a consortium of Dutch universities, will take place during April 2023 in Rotterdam. Dr Marina Joubert, science communication researcher at CREST, chairs the scientific programme committee for this meeting.

“The biennial PCST conference is a true meeting of minds of researchers and practitioners in the field of public science communication and engagement,” Dr Joubert says. “After hosting the previous PCST conference as a virtual event, we are looking forward to this event in Rotterdam that will be mostly in person, but with some options for remote participation.”

The global PCST Network is a professional networking and career development space for researchers, students and practitioners who are involved in exploring or doing public communication of science.

Science communication researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals by 7 September 2022 (17:00 GMT). The call for proposals, along with submission guidelines, can be accessed on the PCST Network website.

The main theme of PCST 2023 is ‘Creating Common Ground’. This theme signifies the role and value of science communication as work across boundaries that connects scientists, engineers, policymakers, business leaders and citizens. It points to the role of science communication to enable collaboration and co-creation of knowledge, but also involves dialogue, debate and critique about how science is applied in society.

The meeting is organised by the global PCST Network, and will be hosted by a consortium of Dutch universities. Visit the conference website.
