The development of evaluator competencies for South Africa: implications for professionalization of evaluation in the country

This study explores the basis, process and implications of defining and validating competencies for evaluators practicing in South Africa. The study also examines; a) how the concept of competence for evaluators differs from that of professions such as accounting and auditing; b) core competencies evaluators need for practice across sectors in South Africa and c) competencies in which they need training.
