Profile

Alboricah Tokologo (TK) Rathupetsaneis a PhD candidate looking at green economy industrialisation in South Africa. Her thesis focuses on how expanding the power transmission infrastructure or grid can be used to create opportunities for local firms in the construction and manufacturing value chains, thereby boosting the economy. Her research will incorporate various bodies of literature including megaprojects literature to understand the grid expansion process, green industrial policies, mission economy and political settlements.

TK holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Masters in Sustainable Development, which looked at the potential for wind technology industrialisation in South Africa from Stellenbosch University. In addition to her academic research, she is an avid creative writer and enjoys writing climate and Africa-focused science fiction stories. She’s a co-founder of the Africa Week Network which brings together local artists and entrepreneurs to imagine a unified, desirable Africa for all.
