Profile

Nyasha is a postdoctoral researcher investigating food system transformations in Africa at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions (CST). The focus of her research is to identify and assess innovations and/or initiatives (referred to as “seeds”) that could potentially contribute to the development of more just, resilient and sustainable food systems. Nyasha is also the Programme Leader for the MPhil in Sustainable Development offered by the CST.  Prior to joining the CST, Nyasha was involved in exploring urban food system dynamics in Worcester, South Africa, as a postdoc with Vrije University and the Centre of Excellence in the Food Security at the University of Western Cape. Nyasha graduated with a PhD in Geography and Environmental Studies in 2018 at Stellenbosch University. Her PhD research investigated the distributional responses of fynbos vegetation to changes in climate and fire regimes.
