Profile

Jackie May has worked in big and medium-sized mainstream media organisations for more than 25 years. She has held permanent and freelance positions producing content for print, digital and television. She edited the South African edition of the international women’s fashion magazine, MARIE CLAIRE and was the Cape editor of the national newspaper, The Times. In 2019, she founded an online platform, Twyg, about sustainable living for which she creates content and exhibitions, campaigns, storytelling projects and events to inspire and inform the Twyg community.  She is passionate about supporting the creative economy and a transition to a sustainable and circular economy through development and access to market. She launched the Twyg Sustainable Fashion Awards in 2019; and in 2021 launched the Tomorrow Together Festival. Jackie holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of London and is currently researching organic cotton growing in South Africa for an MPhil at Stellenbosch University.
