Alumni Digital Newsletter | Issue 3 | Summer 2017

Thank you to all Maties who came out to engage with us at our various events this year. It inspires us to see how our alumni continue to make such a positive impact on society wherever they may find themselves located.

Our 2017 alumni events took us across South Africa and the world - from the picturesque towns of Knysna, Ceres and Hermanus in the Western Cape, to Upington in the Northern Cape, Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, Joburg and Pretoria in Gauteng and Windhoek in Namibia, amongst others. Moreover, we also hosted alumni events across the USA including New York, Washington DC, Boston, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as in London and Oxford in the UK, Munich in Germany, Amsterdam in The Netherlands and Brussels in Belgium. We were also delighted to visit with alumni in Hong Kong and Singapore.

This year also saw us host our second Homecoming and Family Weekend for alumni. This opportunity for alumni to come back to campus is proving increasingly popular and we will once again be inviting you to visit your alma mater during March 2018 and participate in a range of exciting activities tailormade for you. Our Homecoming weekend is your chance as alumni to reconnect with old friends and to relive those wonderful student days. Come and see how much has changed and how much is still the same.

Be sure to follow our social media channels (including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram) for updates as to what you can expect for next year’s Homecoming Weekend, which will run from 1 to 5 March 2018 on the Stellenbosch Campus during the SU Woordfees.

And just to whet your appetite: Our Homecoming Centenary Concert, featuring a host of popular South African artists from Laurika Rauch, to Arno Carstens, to Gloria Bosman, Brandon October and MiCasa (and many many more!) is bound to be popular, so please book your tickets asap to secure your seat. Visit www.matiesalumni.com for more information.

I look forward to welcoming you back to campus in our centenary year. Here’s wishing you and your family well over the upcoming holiday season and a prosperous 2018 ahead!

Let us go FORWARD together as Maties.
