Water Saving

Facilities Management is involved in the establishment of special water stations on campus where students can drink fresh water. The use of bottled water is discouraged since the production of one litre of bottled water requires three to five litres of water. The bottles also generate plastic waste.

Water-saving showerheads and toilet flush systems have been installed at all campuses. Grey water is reused, where possible.

Gardens and sports fields are irrigated with non-potable water from dams and rivers within a limited quota. Irrigation takes place primarily at night, to reduce water loss via evaporation. (This does not currently take place due to water restrictions.) Water-permeable paving is used so that rain water can penetrate the soil and refill the underground aquifers.
