Note: The HPC Administration Fee is for both hpc1 and hpc2. HPC2 (Bioinformatics HPC) does not offer the free 1000 hour option due to limited number of compute nodes. If you require bioinformatics compute resources contact gerhardv@sun.ac.za for access.
Procedure for transferring user fees:
- Initiate a journal to the accountant for your department at the Finance department. This journal should:
- Debit your cost point
- Credit cost point CR:-R1243, account 5227 with R2300.00
- Use your username as reference
- When emailing the journal request to your accountant, CC itfinoffice@sun.ac.za. This will ensure that the user gets given access rights to the HPC by the IT HPC team.
Users registering after the end of June pay R1150.00 for that year.

All users are required to subscribe to the HPC mailing list. All announcements concerning the HPC will be posted there (e.g. downtime notifications). You're also welcome to ask for help on the list. On first login to the HPC you will be automatically registered to the mailing list.
