Centre for Collaboration in Africa

The mandate of the CCA is to develop and nurture relationships between SU and its partner institutions in Africa. The approach is to use bilateral agreements, research networks in various thematic areas, the mobility of students and staff and support in programme development on the continent. The scope of activities includes the following focus areas and projects:

  • Supporting institutional bilateral partnerships on the continent
  • Developing, supporting and implementing Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme programmes
  • Providing the Africa Collaboration Grant to support mobility and projects on the continent
  • Driving the African Research Universities Alliance
  • Supporting thematic networks on the continent, namely RUFORUM, PeriPeriU, PANGeA and AfriNEAD
  • Liaising with the Association of African Universities, the African Network for Internationalization of Education and the Southern African Regional Universities Association
  • Hosting the secretariat of the African Union/NEPAD Southern African Water Centres of Excellence Network
