Global Citizenship Short Course

The Global Citizenship course is a co-curricular course offered by Stellenbosch University International (SUI) in cooperation with the Frederik van Zyl Slabbert Leadership institute (FVZS).

The course is spread over a period of 9 months and consists of 3 major components

  • Themed sessions introducing participants to different aspects of being a global citizen and engaging with various role players
  • Community engagement (20 hours)
  • Intercultural Competence
    • Foreign Language acquisition
    • International exposure and interaction

Outcomes/Aims

  • To develop a better understanding amongst students of what Global Citizenship entails
  • To help create a global social awareness
  • To enable students to actively take part as global citizens
  • To contribute to developing well-rounded world class students/citizens
  • To develop a skill set that will enable students to be role players in a globalised world
  • To develop intercultural competence
  • To link to the graduate attributes of SU
  • To promote Internationalisation @ Home
