PhD Scholarship FOR ACADEMIC STAFF tenable in the UK 2019

Stellenbosch University (SU) has been invited to nominate 1 candidate for Doctoral study in the UK in 2019.

 

All nominated candidates should hold full-time university teaching posts at SU at the time of their application, to which they intend to return following any scholarship. Eligibility:

  • Candidates must hold, or expect to hold by October 2019, a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard or a second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (normally a Master’s degree).
  • Candidates must be able to take up their awards at the commencement of the academic year in September/October 2019, deferments are granted in only the most exceptional circumstances, and will not be considered for start dates beyond January 2020.
  • The Commonwealth Scholarships are offered under six themes:

1. Science and technology for development

2. Strengthening health systems and capacity

3. Promoting global prosperity

4. Strengthening global peace, security and governance

5. Strengthening resilience and response to crises

6. Access, inclusion and opportunity

  • Commonwealth Scholarships are aimed at individuals who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. Every applicant will be required to sign a declaration that they do not have access to sufficient funds to study in the UK. No candidate with the independent means to study in the UK should be nominated to the CSC
  • All PhD candidates must provide a supporting statement from a named supervisor from at least one of the UK universities to which they are applying. If a supporting statement is not provided for their first choice university, the CSC reserves the right to place the candidate at another institution for which they have a supporting statement.

Alliance 4 Universities has been awarded funds under Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme (Action KA107). Through these funds, students and staff from partner universities in Russia, South Africa, India, Indonesia, Iran and Malasia and from A4U universities have the opportunity to participate in mobility schemes.

National Research Foundation Bursary

The National Research Foundation  is awarding bursaries to students pursuing full-time, honours and final year B Tech studies at South African public universities. These bursaries are only awarded to South African citizens and South African permanent residents, and are awarded as Block Grants to South African public universities. Eligible applications will be recommended for funding through the Block Grant.
