Winter and Summer School Application

The application form should be completed in full. You will not be able to save the application form and
return to it at a later point of time. You will need about 45 minutes to complete the form.

Other application requirements:

  1. A reference letter from a Lecturer or Academic Supervisor; the reference letter must be sent directly by the lecturer or academic supervisor to the following email address: sims@sun.ac.za. The reference letter can be addressed to Mr. Robert Kotze, Senior Director: Stellenbosch University International.
  2. A 3 - 5 Minute Video Clip which must be handed in at room 1017 D in the RW Wilcocks Building.

Reviewing of Application:

Applications will be reviewed by a panel and nominations will be made to the Senior Director of Stellenbosch University International. After approval by the Senior Director, applicants are informed of the outcome and nominations are sent to the host institution. Please note that the host institution accepts or rejects the nominations and therefore determines if an application is successful.

Please note that certain conditions apply to Summer and Winter School nominations and placements.
 
Summarized Conditions:
  1. Incomplete Applications will not be considered by Stellenbosch University International.
  2. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that his or her application is complete and received by Stellenbosch University International on time.
  3. A student must be registered for a full degree at Stellenbosch University.
  4. Only students in their second year or later will be considered for a nomination and placement at summer or winter schools taking place in June / July / August.
  5. Only students not in their final year of their degree, may apply to attend a winter or summer school opportunity in January of the following year.
  6. A student must have an overall aggregate of 60%.
  7. A student must have written approval from their academic department, if they will be missing class. This is the responsibility of the student. (We prefer that students don't miss class.)
  8. Stellenbosch University International reserves the right not to make a nomination.
  9. The Decision of the Senior Director of Stellenbosch University International is final.
  10. Stellenbosch University International will not enter into any discussions regarding the nomination and placement of students at the respective Summer / Winter Schools.
  11. Students who have already attended a summer school will not be considered.
  12. The host institution accepts or rejects nominations provided by Stellenbosch University International and therefore determines if an application is successful or not.
  13. Depending on the summer school or course a student may have to pay the following costs at the host university / institution:
    1. Registration / Administration Fees
    2. Traveling Expenses
    3. Accommodation and living expenses
  14. Students are responsible to apply and pay for their own visas.
  15. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that his or her personal documents (passport etc.) are in order and valid as determined by the respective embassy or high commission of the host country.
