The Confucius Institute at Stellenbosch University (CISU) hosted a Summer Camp for South African students and learners in China from 21 June – 6 July 2018. Twenty-four participants from Stellenbosch University and Worcester Gymnasium visited Xiamen and Beijing, learning more about the Chinese language and culture. They were accompanied by two volunteer teachers from the CISU. The group spent a week at Xiamen University, acquiring skills in Mandarin, Chinese art and cooking. They also explored Beijing, visiting tourist attractions such as the Beijing Olympic Park, Chinese Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. The trip was facilitated by the Southern Base of Confucius Institute Headquarters at Xiamen University.
