Medical cover for international students: All returning and new international students registering on a study visa must hold medical cover from a provider that is registered with the SA Council for Medical Schemes in terms of the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 and be paid up for the full 12 months of 2017 (or for the relevant period for semester students). The Immigration Act states that proof of medical cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act is required. Any person registered without such medical cover invalidates his/her visa.
