International students from institutions without a formal exchange agreement with Stellenbosch University can apply to study for one or two semesters for non-degree purposes as "freemovers" or international special students.

To the prospective Freemover Applicant. Please carefully study the list of supporting documents needed for your application. Please follow the ‘how to apply’ link for a list of supporting documents which should be ready by the time that you log your application online by the deadline. 

Please ensure to have all the supporting documents ready to be uploaded once all the fields have been filled out. 
* Please note that there are a file size limit of 10MB for all documents combined.

  • CV
  • Passport
  • Declaration by home university. Please download here.
  • Contract by applicant. Please download here.
  • Proof of English level for academic purposes
  • Proof of Medical Insurance (*this will be required within one week of the admission letter provided)
