One might mistake Jeannique for being a model, one that’s consistently gracing the cover of Italian Vogue and the like. But don’t let Jeannique’s long locks and sun-kissed skin deceive you – she is not to be underestimated. In fact, her looks are actually a reflection of the internal qualities that she possesses, which merely radiates externally.
Born and bred in Durban, Jeannique is a fervent Sharks supporter (much to the delight of the Dean), and a proud resident of her hometown. Her reason for pursuing a spot on the JV executive committee stems from what she has learnt from the following saying: "If you want to play the game, go to where it is being played, and find a way in". She could not imagine a better “game” than the one in her very own faculty, with the energy created by the students that exists within the bounds of the Ou Hoofgebou quad being a driving force behind her decision to make herself available for office.
She describes her election as being an “honour”, and thus plans on tackling her assigned tasks with enthusiasm and vigour, whilst guiding instead of leading. These tasks are generally two-fold, namely the compilation and distribution of the Law Graduate Recruitment Guide in March and the Nuntius in September. However, Jeannique has decided to spearhead the design, manufacture and distribution of the annual faculty hoodie in April alongside her other responsibilities – a true testament to her drive and passion for student leadership. There is no doubt that this drive and passion, coupled with her attention to detail will ensure the most successful and popular publications and hoodie to date.
While Jeannique has yet to decide what her long-term future may hold, she hopes to commence with her articles at a law firm from 2017. In the meantime, she hopes to continue enjoying the student life, which allows her to pursue her other passions for cooking, fitness, music and travelling while she still has the time to do so.
