Dear Majuba Alumnus,
Now for shedding some light on all the alumni-related events and happenings for 2021. The Alumni Office is busy adapting their dates, because of the change in university dates for 2021. The first semester will only start on the 15th of March for all undergraduate students.
Homecoming Weekend has been scheduled 23 to 25 September 2021. For those who are unaware of what this weekend entails, it is the weekend during which the university holds all their alumni-related events, such as reunions. Having our Majuba first year group reunions at the same time as Homecoming Weekend means there will be many alumni on campus – not only can you attend the Majuba reunion, but other functions as well. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as www.matiesalumni.com for updates.
Grysduif events at Majuba are currently on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the university. We’re considering hosting Grysduif events at other venues but will wait for news from the university before the planning starts.

In March this year, the old Majubane Bond Committee was appointed at the Grysduif Manneaand. I want to congratulate the following Majuba alumni who will be serving on the committee: Lampie Fick (Primarius 2018), Jean Dippenaar (Primarius 2007), Frik Landman (Primarius 1977 & 1978), Pierre van der Merwe (HC 1982), Ernst Gouws (HC 2003) and Werner van der Merwe (current Primarius). The purpose of this committee is to streamline communication between the residence and the alumni, especially the organising of events.
