DAY 1 KEYNOTE ADDRESS

Supporting university teaching in changing times and contexts

Prof. Chris Winberg, Fundani Centre for Higher Education Development, Cape Peninsula University of Technology
Professor Chris Winberg is die direkteur van die Fundani Centre for Higher Education Development by die Kaapse Skiereilandse Universiteit van Tegnologie (KSUT [”CPUT”]) in Kaapstad, Suid-Afrika. Die Fundani Sentrum is verantwoordelik vir die bevordering van onderrig en leer en van opvoedkundige navorsing aan die instelling. Chris se werk behels akademiese en institusionele ontwikkeling met ’n huidige fokus op die bestuur van onderrigontwikkelingstoekennings. Haar navorsingsfokus is professionele en beroepsgerigte onderwys, die professionele ontwikkeling van universiteitsdosente, en tegniese kommunikasie. In September 2015 is ’n NRF SARChI Stoel in Werk-geïntegreerde Leer aan haar toegeken wat sy in Januarie 2016 sal opneem. Sy het voorheen toegepaste linguistiek en taalonderwys in Suid-Afrika en in Swede gedoseer. Vanaf 2010 tot 2012 was sy die voorsitter van die Suid-Afrikaanse Vereniging vir Toegepaste Linguistiek.

DAY 2 KEYNOTE ADDRESS

Demonstrating, evaluating and rewarding excellence in university teaching – a Swedish perspective

Dr Thomas Olsson, Faculty of Engineering, Lund University, Sweden
Keynote 2

Dr Thomas Olsson is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, Sweden. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and currently works in academic development in the faculty. Thomas has extensive experience in systems for rewarding excellent teaching, pedagogical aspects of tenure and promotion, and research projects related to excellence in teaching and learning. He has played an active role in the steering group of a national Swedish project on excellence in university teaching. He also serves as a pedagogical expert at numerous appointments and promotions committees of university teachers at different universities and he has, together with colleagues from three other Swedish universities, organized a national course for prospective assessors of pedagogical qualifications.
